The business started up in 1927 when Charles Giraud set himself up as a broker specializing in tropical vegetable oils mostly for Marseille oil mills and soap makers. His business at that time, focused on and around the port of Marseille, mainly consisted in talking frequently to suppliers and customers, conclude deals between them and sampling all deliveries. The work required good organization, in-depth knowledge of products and a flair for trading.

That year marked the founding of C. Giraud & Cie, a company further expanded by his son Jacques who developed brokerage activities in raw and refined vegetable oils for the food industry.

In tune with constantly growing demand, increasingly global trade, product specification and a growing number of quality standards, C. Giraud & Cie has become a modern, well-equipped enterprise fitted to the market. The fourth generation today is just as motivated as was the founder and shares the same values: rigour, awareness of needs, availability, efficacity … to meet buyer and purchaser expectations.
